WHAT TO DO IF YOUR DOG ATTACKS A RACCOON

Dogs and raccoons do not get along. In fact, they hate each other. Here's what to do if your dog attacks one...

Try to stop the attack by yelling sternly at your dog to stop. Yelling might also scare the raccoon away.

If your dog is on a leash, pull them away from the raccoon, but do not try to grab them or the raccoon. If you put your hand close to the animals, there is a good chance you will be bitten or scratched.

Get your dog a rabies booster shot within 5 days of the attack.

If the raccoon is still in your yard, call animal control to remove the animal and test it for rabies.
